The Brumley Bequest
Montana Academy of Sciences is the grateful recipient of a trust from the estate of the late William Brumley of Havre. Brumley family members were early settlers of the Havre area, and some of the Brumley family still live there. After World War II, Bill Brumley worked for the Railway Express and finished his university degrees. He taught mathematics and physics at Harlem High School for a few years, then moved to Montana State University-Northern where he taught mathematics. He was interested in electronics and started the fist computer lab in the Havre area; he was also an amateur ham radio enthusiast. He stimulated the interest of many students in electronics and computer skills. Bill Brumley is remembered by friends and family members as a kind, gentle, modest, generous man. He was active in the science club activities at Northern, and masqueraded as Santa Claus on a motorcycle at more than one Christmas party.
Funds from the Brumley bequest will be used primarily for awards for research by Montana science students. We thank Bill Brumley and his family for their generous gift to the Montana Academy of Sciences.
